Substantial Solar Incentives

Financial incentives for commercial solar are near an all-time high – and have never been better for projects that obtain REAP funding. Glow works with each customer to ensure that their project captures the maximum incentive amount from all applicable federal, state and local incentive programs. With full incentives, an investment in solar can be more attractive than ever, with payback in just a few years.

All solar project up to 1 MW qualify for guaranteed federal and state incentives that amount to over 45% of project costs.

  • Federal Investment Tax Credit = 30% of project cost
  • Tax Deduction from Depreciation = 15% of project cost (for 21% tax rate)
  • WI Focus on Energy Solar Incentive = Up to $25,000 for businesses & $35,000 for agricultural producers (based on project size)
  • WI Renewable Energy State Sales and Use Tax Exemption = 5% avoided cost
  • WI Renewable Energy Property Tax Exemption = solar systems are exempt from general property tax

    • Solar projects over 1MW involve additional criteria to determine available incentives. Please contact Glow Solar for more information, including the relevant factors and related incentive amounts.

    Rural small businesses and agricultural producers are eligible for USDA Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) Grants and Loans.

  • REAP grants cover up to 50% of project costs with a grant limit of $1 million per applicant!
  • REAP loan guarantees on loans up to 75% of project costs.
  • REAP grants are competitive and have eligibility requirements.

    • Glow will help you determine if your project is eligible for REAP funding and, if it is, provide professional grant writing services to deliver a strong, on-time application.

    To date, Glow has guided customers with successful REAP applications that were granted over $600,000 in combined funding awards.

    Glow feels that financing offered directly by solar companies very often is not in the best interest of customers – so we don’t provide it. If you are interested in learning more about financing options beyond your established financial partners, we’ll be happy to recommend well-qualified lenders for your consideration.

    Glow financial partners can provide Investment Tax Credit & REAP specific financing that eliminates initial out of pocket costs. This means that your payments begin only AFTER you receive your incentives.

    Protection & Peace of Mind. Glow’s commitment to our customers doesn’t end with installation. Glow provides a 10-vear workmanship warrant on our installations and all system components carry long manufacturer warranties – most are 25-year. We monitor all new systems remotely to make sure they continue to operate properly and are always happy to answer questions. In the unlikely case of an issue, Glow can provide troubleshooting and service support at no charge for items under warranty.

    The Glow Solar Process

    Discovery Phase

    Glow Solar’s simple, no-cost, no-obligation discovery process focuses on providing all the information needed to determine if solar is right for your business or farm.

    We’re happy to assist even if you are just looking to understand how solar could help your operations.

  • Initial Consultation. Contact us to learn more about commercial  solar and Glow’s approach; discuss your facility, operations, energy needs, and budget; and collaboratively identify the priorities and goals for your potential solar system.
  • Detailed Analysis & Customized System Design. Glow will use your facility’s actual energy usage and rate data in sophisticated energy, solar, and financial modeling tools to design an optimized solar system tailored specifically to your priorities and space. We’ll also prepare a report detailing the system’s cost and anticipated performance and return.

  • Design Proposal Review. The purpose of this review is to provide all the information you need to determine if solar is right for your business / farm. As such, Glow will discuss the proposed system with you in detail – including the energy production, electricity cost savings, environmental offsets, financial incentives, and payback period you can expect – and answer all your questions.

  • Site Assessment. If you are interested in continuing, Glow will visit your facility to evaluate the proposed installation area and your facility’s electrical and physical infrastructure (unless this was done as part of the initial consultation).

    • Delivery Phase

    If you decide to go solar with Glow, we will deliver your system smoothly, efficiently, and with a focus on quality, clear communication, and responsiveness throughout.

    Experienced NABCEP-certified Glow team members will manage every step of your project and lead the installation coordinating with your staff and operations as needed.

  • Design & Engineering. Glow will conduct electrical and structural feasibility analyses, complete all system engineering, finalize the system design, and obtain stamped engineering plan sets – all in accordance with industry best practices and state and local codes.
  • Permitting & Utility / Incentive Submittals. Glow will administer all required project paperwork – including building and electrical permits from the local authority, a solar application and interconnection agreement from the utility, and all applicable incentives.

  • Procurement & Logistics. Glow will complete the bill of materials, select vendors, procure all system components, and make logistical arrangements for material storage and delivery to site.

  • Commissioning & Monitoring. Glow will conduct thorough system testing, administer the final inspection by the local authority and utility, acquire permission to operate from the utility, and activate performance monitoring – utilizing internet connection provided by the customer.

  • Energization & Handoff. Glow will energize your system for regular operation and provide your team with a system orientation and handoff documentation.

    Glow Solar is proud to be a local Madison business. Glow Solar develops commercial & agricultural solar across Wisconsin and beyond. Our service area for residential projects is more limited – Glow does residential solar work throughout South Central Wisconsin with a special focus on homes in the greater Dane County area.
